follow these steps to make a great cup of coffee

Start with FRESH Coffee:
A vital part to any brewing method. Start with Freshly Roasted beans. Beans that have been freshly roasted will give you the most flavor.

Grind Setting:
The grind for the Chemex is coarse, similar to that of the french press, just not as coarse. With most grinders you want to take the setting of the grinder all the way to very coarse then go back about 3 notches or so. This will be less like tiny flakes of coffee and more round grounds.

The Blloom
This is my personal favorite part of the process with chemex. You pour a small amount of water on top of the grounds. Not to much though! The purpose is to start the bloom not the brewing process. After you pour a small amount of water onto the grounds, let it stand for about 20 seconds or so. Stand back and watch the coolest part.

Pouring
Now that we have the bloom going we start the berwing process. Something that I like to simplify for most people. Start by pouring on the outside edge while gradually moving into the center. Make sure you saturate the entire bed of coffee grounds. All of this will ensure a proper extraction.
After the brewing is done, which will vary depending on how much you are making. Pour into a mug and enjoy.
